Hey guys..

I'm looking for any recommendations on a good tank bag for our little CBR. I take the bike to work everyday and don't enjoy wearing a backpack, especially if it gets a bit heavier. I prefer the kind that turns into a backpack.

Anybody use one of these? Does it cover up the instrument panel? Any other options?

Cheers,

Well I have read threads about other people going down or getting in accidents and I figured that was something that would never happen to me, but that changed last night. I was cut off by a driver who turned left right in front of me and t-boned into the side of her on the klx. RIDE SAFE FOLKS and be careful of other drivers!

Don't worry though I am one lucky bastard. I had just loaned my motorcycle jacket to my friend who is doing his motorcycle course this weekend so I crashed wearing only my helmet and gloves for protective gear. There was no slide on the pavement luckily so no lost skin apart from a little scratch on my knee. And thanks to some defensive driving on my part I anticipated her turning in on me and had nearly skidded to a stop by the time we hit. No broken bones and I don't even feel stiff this morning! Literally walked away with a scratch on my knee.

It seems the dual sports can take a good knock. I think my cbr would have been much worse off in the same collision. Hopefully I can get this sorted out soon and be back on the road with a whole new level of caution and defensive driving that I hope will stop anything more serious from happening in the future.

Ride safe folks! It happens really fast!

There are a few of these "motorcycle towing services" in North America: you pay an annual fee, and in return you get 24-hour road side service for your motorcycle. Usually there are discounted rates for towing, etc. and the service puts you in touch with towing services that have a flatbed suitable for motorcycles, etc.

I am planning on doing some road trips this summer on my 500, mostly here in British Columbia. My bike is running well and in great mechanical shape, but I figure it's better to be safe than sorry.

Is there such a towing service that other riders in Canada can recommend?

Hey guys, wiped out on streetcar tracks in the rain this morning - not too much cosmetic damage. But noticed that there was a clunk when braking hard. When I got home I checked it out, and the forks wiggle a bit in a forward back motion i.e. I grab the forks with one hand and my other hand on the collar, upper and lower doesn't matter, and I can feel the movement.

Anyone know if this is as simple as bearing and/or collars or could it be something more sinister?

TIA

Hey guys,

Looking for some feedback from the veteran riders on the forum. I was recently chatting with a really experienced rider. He's an older gentlemen and very responsible rider. He's of the mindset that I would've been better off with a bigger bike because you sometimes need to be able to accelerate out of trouble with a quick twist of the throttle.

What are your thoughts? Have you ever been in a situation where the CBR125 was actually dangerous because it lacked the power to get you out of trouble?

I've had my '08 for about 2 weeks and put 600km on it already. In those 600 clicks, I haven't encountered (yet) a situation where I felt the bike was dangerously underpowered.

Cheers,

Hey guys,

Got cut off by a kid trying to make a left turn from a parking lot. I was in the turning lane, heading toward the lights, he came forward blind (cars were backed up at the lights and waved him through); he "didn't see me", I had to slam the brakes and ended up flipping the bike when the breaks locked.

Shitty part? If I had hit him, it would be covered by insurance and he would be at fault. As it stands, he has reneged twice on paying and I'm shit outta luck. I'm seeing what I can do about having him charged (I was initially told he would be, but he never was).

Anyway -- to the point. I took the beast to a Honda power dealership and they assessed the damages at $1700 including labour and taxes. Not worth it. So I got him to highligt the absolute necessary components needed to get her ride-worthy again and now I'm looking to track them down (looks like left clutch lever, left mirror, back plastic bracket that holds my plate, something called a winker assembly and some other stuff I can't quite decipher).

Does anyone have a parts guide, FSM and/or a good place to look for aftermarket parts to help me save a little coin? I'm located in Toronto and hoping to find somewhere local-ish to find the parts. Though I know Ebay is always an option...

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey guys,

After 15 years of being away from riding, I recently picked up an 08 CBR 125R. I'm really enjoying this little bike. I used to ride a '92 Kawi EX500. One thing I'm still getting used to is the mega short 1st gear. What's the best technique for a long left hand turn from stop? I know it's not good practice to shift in the middle of a turn. Usually the left turns are not tight so I can get away with it but do not want to get into bad habits. What do the experienced riders on this forum do?

A quick shift to second then take the turn? Shift when turn is complete?

Cheers,

Hey guys n gals, I'm a complete motorcycle noob but usually a fast learner and at 26 I got an itch this Spring that turned went from me casually browsing on kijiji to owning a 2007 red and black CBR with 3600 kms. I've taken to riding really well and have watched more tutuorials and videos than I can count!

I weigh 200lbs so obviously you know it's not pulling hard at 90km/h uphill lol. That's fine and I find living on PEI with no divided highways and speed limits that are max 90 on four routes and 80 on all secondary I can get it around just fine and keep up with most traffic. I've heard of people installing 14 tooth sprockets and getting use out of 6th gear (rarely ever in it myself, maybe downhill conserving gas haha) and just in general having a little more pull through the gears. Just wondering what type of performance change I should expect and also if I should take it to the dealer to get it installed?

Was also considering taking out the snorkel i've heard so much about, any of your knowledge of either mod would be greatly appreciated!
Here she is, awfully stock looking I know haha, may put some red rim tape on, I liked the look of it from another thread here! :D[IMG][/IMG]
